These lovely "Crested Barrel Cactus" are unusual and their thorns are curved about 45 degrees unlike the saguaro which has straight thorns.
The thorn's are redish in color, not yellow or white like a saguaro. If they get ahold of you, the thorn is quit strong and
you will definitely know it. The good thing is they don't have a reverse barb near the tip.
When barrel cactus flower, they usually have flowers, arranged like a ring around the top and the whole top of the barrel Cactus may be flowered.
These flowers can be yellow, redish or orange in color.
